Anatomically Accurate Boy Doll Comes without Warning Label, Causes Huge Controversy Among Parents

A new baby doll called “You and Me Mommy Change My Diaper Doll” that cries when its underpants are wet recently hit Toys R Us shelves, and has some parents downright freaked out at what they’re finding once they bring the doll home for their children.

Unlike most toy dolls that come without any genitalia, this one comes equipped with a tiny penis. Some moms have been posting images of the doll without the diaper and complaining about it on Facebook. Neither the company’s site nor the toy box specifies that the doll is designed to be anatomically accurate.

One mom on Facebook writes, “Little girls should not be shown that on dolls. The company makes me sick.”

Others, however, have a different opinion. She Knows writer, Monica Beyers states in a recently published article, “How on earth is it inappropriate for a child to see a naked baby? What about a baby makes a penis or a vulva dirty or sexual?”

Whether or not letting children play with anatomically correct dolls is appropriate is one question and should probably be left up to any given child’s parents to decide. What’s causing a bigger stir, however, is the fact that there’s no warning label on the package and without the head’s up, parents don’t have a choice.
